Louise is a multi award-winning writer and correspondent with over a decade of experience covering conflict and politics across the world.
She spent eight years living in Istanbul reporting on Turkey, the Middle East and Ukraine, and is now based in New York as the senior correspondent for The Sunday Times, where she covers the Americas.
Louise was named foreign correspondent of the year at the British Media Freedom Awards (2025) the UK Press Awards (2024), and the Foreign Press Association Awards (2021), and has been shortlisted for many others.
Since 2025, she has also directed documentary films for Times Originals, primarily from Latin America.
She is the author of Father of Lions (one of NPR's best books of the year in 2020) and the host of The Messiah and His Kittens, a podcast series about a Turkish cult.
Louise is bilingual in English and Swedish. She is also professionally proficient in French, Spanish and Turkish (and gets along fairly well in Levantine Arabic and Swahili).
